Christian Gonzalez is an American football cornerback who played college football at the University of Colorado as well as the University of Oregon.

He was born on the 28th of June 2002 to his father, Hector Gonzalez, and mother, Temple Gonzalez, in Carrollton, Texas. Gonzalez is the third of four children born to his parents.

As a high school student at The Colony High School, Gonzalez was rated a four-star prospect as a cornerback and wide receiver.

He initially committed to play college football at Purdue University before ultimately enrolling at the University of Colorado. Gonzalez joined the Colorado Buffaloes football team in 2020 and became a full-time cornerback.

In his first season, he started only two games out of 30 appearances. As a result, Gonzalez’s father averaged 0.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. During his second season, he started eight of the 29 games he played.

Interestingly, Hector showed slight improvements in his stats as he averaged 1.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in his second season.

Sadly, he was not drafted into the NBA after he graduated from college. Instead of wallowing in anguish and pondering on what could have been, Hector moved on with his life.

Hence, he briefly delved into playing semiprofessional basketball in Colombia. Despite featuring for just the 1999-2000 season with the Piratas team, Hector was glad he got to play basketball again.

The athlete’s second older sister, Samantha Gonzalez, is also a former track and field athlete from Texas who had a successful career in college.

Like Melissa, she also attended Creekview High School in Carrolton, where she participated in track and field. In 2015, Samantha won the Texas state championship in the 300-meter hurdles.
