This move allowed him to embark on his professional basketball career, joining the City Reapers team. OTE is a newly established professional league based in Atlanta, catering to players between the ages of 16 and 20.

Thompson made the decision to join OTE alongside his twin brother, Ausar, bypassing their final year of high school and college. The brothers believed that this path would provide them with the best preparation for their NBA aspirations.

Troy Thompson Jr., the elder brother of the Thompson twins, Amen and Ausar, played a significant role in their basketball journey. Born on the 28th of December 1994, Troy Jr. is 9 years older than his brothers.

Growing up, the twins trained under the guidance of their dad and elder brother as they did not have a dedicated trainer. They often felt secure while learning under the tutelage of their older sibling.

Digging into his biography, Troy Jr. attended Oakland Technical High School for his high school education. He was a talented basketball player who wanted to make a name for himself in the NBA.

After high school, Troy Jr. pursued his college basketball career at City College of San Francisco. He only played at the college for two years before transferring to Prairie View A&M University.

Despite recording many impressive feats, Amen Thompson’s older brother remained undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft. In October 2019, he had a tryout with the Stockton Kings.
