Paolo Napoleon James Banchero is an Italian-American basketball player. He plays college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.

The young athlete was born on the 12th of November 2002 to his father, Mario Banchero, and mother, Rhonda Banchero in Seattle, Washington. He is the youngest of the three children born to his parents.

After graduation, Mario Banchero went straight into honing his business skills to support his family. It took lots of hard work before he became the president of Mondo & Sons, a fourth-generation butcher company based in Seattle.

Mario’s ancestors have always been Italian. However, his great grandparents immigrated from Northern Italy to the United States in the early 1900s.

They established themselves as farmers and coal miners in Black Diamond. After many years of living in the U.S., Mario’s grandfather didn’t naturalize in the U.S. Hence, his lineage qualifies for Italian citizenship, which they got in 2020.

Like Shaedon Sharpe‘s dad, Mario worked tirelessly to help his son excel in basketball. He paid for gym sessions and got his boy great coaches to help him improve his technicality and basketball prowess.

Paolo Banchero Mother – Rhonda Banchero:

The power forward’s mom played college basketball for the Washington Huskies, where she established herself as her school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,948 points. She was selected in the third round of the 2000 WNBA draft.

After making many professional appearances in the American Basketball League and overseas, Rhonda retired from basketball. However, her love for the game was never extinguished.

She soon became a basketball coach at Holy Names Academy in Seattle. Her contributions to the Washington basketball team were rewarded by inducting her into the Husky Hall of Fame in 2004.
